Klink clink joo have dropped for mee!

It has been a while since I updated this but I wanted to add my newest achievement to this LJ. I have been doing Salvage on and off and recently these past few months I joined a group lead by Fuuun with a couple of people from dryroot and others. We were rotating zones, doing SSR > ZR > AR > BR and repeat, and I had been trying to go after the piece I wanted the most from salvage, Morrigan's Robe. We got the 15 peice, then the boss dropped the 25 and all that was left was the 35... So I took my friends advice and started to try and duo it instead of waiting once a week for the chance it would drop one day, so I took the two permits that I had free from sat and sun and starting to spam AR. Eventually it paid off!

Took me back a little in terms of cash and equipment, had to sell off my Hagun and a few other things but it was worth it in my opinion, I don't use SAM much anyways. Also got a good bit of the funding from some GREAT luck off enms, another double hagun drop and more hedgehog bombs. Finally got the one piece I really wanted from Salvage and one of the remaining achievements I wanted to accomplish in this game, I did a lot of complaining about how I never got anything from all the Salvage runs I did but it finally paid off. Thank you to all the people who helped me gain entrance into AR all those times and thanks to the people who lent me the things I needed to finish the crafting of the coat!

The only hard part about the strat for getting my coat was getting people... I had to bribe, beg and kiss ass to get people to come here -_- although there were a lot of reliable people that I counted on to get me in and I am extremely grateful for their help but people just don't seem to like helping for this sort of thing, dunno if its jealousy of me getting in the zone to duo or what but they just didn't budge. Thanks again to those that helped. Get 5 people to come to the zone all subbed /blm or blm main for warp and call a time on the in-game CLOCK (dumb typo -.-) it really is that simple.

Before the time comes by make sure you are hovering over the yes command, you can't see the time when you are hovering the yes command to enter but you can tell because they start casting warp, that is when you hit yes. Also make sure to use reraise before you enter because it carries over and you can't inside due to not having earring cell or head peice (although the scroll from CP works). After they warp it is a long pause and you gain entrance while they get to keep their remnants permit!

The actual act of killing off the NM's was very easy and I did a few other NM's also when I got comfortable with the zone. Through the process it was me on BLM/NIN and my friend on RDM, he never got SJ cell so doesn't really matter what sub he had. We zoned in, opened chest and hoped for two magic cells, if there weren't any we farmed some lamia until one dropped for him. If there was no HP cell in the first chest, I tried to get one from the drauger (horrible drop rate...) and only gave a few tries before we ported up. On second floor, did another lamia or drauger if needed and in the correct room then we went to the first QQA. This one is really easy and has low HP, so I just did a ES+AM2 to open the fight and then manafont and went crazy on him, easily killed him w/o taking damage.

After that floor we ported up to 3rd and opened the door so we were facing the first QQTH, opened the fight with AM2+ blizzard 3, then it always ran off and we made sure to get bio2 (from blm) and poison2 (from rdm) off on him before he ran. We ran to the door that is just left from the porter and rested a tic, made sure to type /heal and macro my Hmp gear so I kept target on the QQTH. Once he starts heading back and is at the bend to turn into the room, I got up and started to cast bliz 4 while the RDM casts blizzard III. After that volley he will chase for a little and basically just kite around the four large pillars in the room (ones in the first screenshot, not around the teleporter but the ones around the outside of those pillars around the teleporter if that makes sense) and making sure to take sharp turns around them so that he lags behind a little. Keep shadows up and eventually he runs back off and rinse and repeat while keeping DOTs up if they wear off, after he dies port up.

The 4th floor QQTH is the harder one in my opinion, he chases after you a lot more than the 3rd floor so you have to kite longer and it can be a little dangerous if he catches up because sometimes he lays down a bomb which usually means he will run, but then he will just randomly go back after you unlike the previous QQTH. For this fight again I opened with AM2 + Blizzard III ( can use ES if its up) then bio II and poison II, he may or may not run off after this volley but if he doesn't just kite him again around the pillars like previous floor. When this one runs off we had my friend stay in the room and I chased after him but not directly behind, stay a little back away from him so that when he turns around you can know and run back into the room. Once inside the room you can nuke if you have enough space and 3 shadows up then start kiting again. He resists a blizzard 3 from RDM a lot so I had my friend just keep replacing Poison2 when it wore and refreshing me/curing if I get hit. If he runs off too far he will lose aggro but he will run back into the room and just plant a bomb, he didn't attack me so that was a nice opportunity to get a free nuke in. That is basically the strat I did for these NM's.

After these QQTH I decided to tackle the ghost on the north side of the zone, really easy fight just bio II it and then run into the main room making sure to stun blizzaga III if he opens with that after Bio. I kited him around the four pillars until he lost hate and I waited until bio wore off and just reapplied it and also put on poison II. The one NM on the other side of the zone, the soulflayer for the 35 morri head was causing me a lot of trouble. Can't effectively land poison II on him so its much longer (it did land sometimes) and he is a lot stronger than the ghost, only got him to 31% couldn't manage to kill him although it can be done! I gotta keep trying eventually I'll get him down.

Here is him resisiting poison II with ES -_-

Really glad to get lucky finally with this and hopefully more drops in the future. Here some previous drops I got for my BLU from znm which give a nice boost to my spell set!

Now a random "wtf" pic what is a penquin doing at pudding camp!!

It is done.

After a long time of exping, fight after fight with the old bag and constantly having to farm for testimony and equips... it is finally over.

The chocolates was a tempting offer but....

Long Time

It's been a very long time since I last updated this, but since I am in the mood I think I will try to make a post later on today or sometime this week, theres been so much that has happened I really don't know where to start....

MORE TO COME!!!

Lucky!

No not that kind of lucky...

Well... close but no not that kind either!

Yes this kind ! A double Hagun drop and ontop of that a Galateia. Got real lucky with this ENM and we duo'd it SCH and SAM for a nice payout, I got to keep one Hagun for my SAM and wolf took the other one to sell. I have been trying to slowly piece together a good set of gear for my SAM and it's been progressing very well so far. Got AF+1 pants on Sunday, which is pretty decent for a 6 hit build once I get my store tp merits and Rajas ring (which is gonna be a 20 day wait due to the fact you MUST touch the door in Upper Jeuno to start the timer after you toss ring a second time....). Thing's have been going pretty well this week aside from  the invisible khroma ore I seem to be getting from ISNM =/, trying to save up for a Morrigan's Robe someday... and I can't forget this awesome lot!

Yeah thats really just made me laugh though, was still a good week for me. Speaking of Khroma ore, about two or three months ago I had accidently sent a Khroma to someone named Beatrice because that was the name of my old mule and it was too late to cancel it because they had picked it up. I really thought I would never see that ore again, because they didn't log in for a long time and since they are JP we play on different time zones but as this week is lucky, another lucky filled event happened. Fast forward two or three months,  I am strolling through Whitegate and I happen to see none other than Beatrice herself, and I send her a tell and this follows..

Can this really mean I am getting my ore back!? Why, yes it does mean that! Beatrice was nice enough to get me the khroma ore I had sent to her by mistake, that was extremely nice considering she could have just pretended she didn't speak English or something, but she did have a lot of awesome gear so she probably didn't even need it all that much. Regardless, it was a very kind gesture that not a lot of people would do considering it has been two or three months and my /tell's were vague mostly because I figured she wouldn't give it up. Thanks Beatrice!

Now this week wouldn't be complete without me dying 1000 times so heres a brief intermission to explore into the world of death!

and my favorite!

Yay for free warp at Nyzul colibri merit camp as bard, I am sure they enjoyed themselves with that one.  I'm not a huge fan of meriting, I feel like its just not advancing me when it really is by a lot, but I guess it's just boredom and the only "advancing" is when you get into your mog house. Unless you like to see the merit count go up like levels, it just doesn't have the same appeal for me so it bores me out quickly. I did manage to snag my last merit into Ice potency to finish my tier1 group for blm, and as embarrasing as it is to say I put my 4th merit into sword which should be 8 already considering BLU is my favorite job!

Something I have been wanting to get for a while now for my BLU was also obtained this week,

Don't mind the gimp looking gear I am wearing, I just had to hold Ose for a bit while my friend came to help me on the kill and I tossed on any piece of EVA I could muster for it. I actually managed to get him down to a good 50ish percent with my NPC, I would have been able to go further if the damn idiot would actually cast useful spells on me like Silena or Paralyna instead of paralyze. So I ended up dying just as they got to Ose and we finally killed it for the drop! This is a good piece for BLU for tping in, if you use sushi you really don't need the acc from SH and I was previously TPing in just my AF body but I switched over to this for the attack and small increase in acc. Glad it only took 1 hour to pop the NM though, I have heard some horrible stories of this NM taking like 17 hours to spawn and what not.

I've also been trying to gear my THF up, right now im really focused on getting SIrroco Kukri due to the fact of hitting level 70, got a Thief's Knife though so that's a great bonus for being level 70 among the good gear I have access to now. I really need some more gear before I decided to push towards 75, mostly because most of the stuff I was aiming for is at level 70 (Thief's Knife) but I want to finish it so I can have utsuemi: ni and be able to solo tougher things on Thief. Sirroco Kukri NM, kruetzet, is being a real pain in the ass at the moment hopefully he will pity me eventually and just drop the damn dagger already or atleast pop for me so I can get a chance to kill him. It is really frustrating to have to camp there every night to get a glimpse of the TOD and then when you finally get it, it ends up being during an event time or RL scheduled plan. The job is very fun though outside of exp situations, a friend of mine did an awesome job tanking Sirroco NM as Thief and me Red Mage and we duo'd it with ease.

Nyzul Isle, one of the most fun assault based battles in the game with the bosses and the gear it has a chance to provide. However, this one floor (80!) is being a major pain in the ass, before I joined this static there was a waiting list for the damn Askar piece that never seems to drop, and since I would like it too, of course it continues its bad reputation of not appearing heh. So far the people that have been waiting for it have gotten theirs, and two new members (me and a friend) have joined and are awaiting our fateful day that these body pieces drop, which is hopefully soon. I do enjoy and look forward to doing Nyzul, I just wish it didn't start so late but that can't be avoided now I guess. I also wish didn't have to go Bard each run, maybe someway there is a better job choice I have for it but the buffs are really hard to beat from a Bard...

Interesting event going on, even though its about to end soon I believe. I haven't gotten into it very much it's just strange... I did like seeing the battle in the middle of the cities though, that was cool. I heard there are mini-games or something going on with this event but I don't even know where they are nor do I have the care to search for them, I just thought this was neat.

Now I end the entry with some random pictures of our sea farming that I thought looked cool!

ZNM craze

When ZNM first I was really hesitant to start doing it due to the fact you need a lot of people for some of the NM's and when they drop gear it will get all complicated. Now I've started to do more ZNM and it's really not as complicated, we used to follow the rule that the person who pops the NM gets trig and a choice of one drop and the rest goes freelot. Currently our LS leader has set rules for it that the gear the goes freelot is 100~500 points depending on the gear and you get two points for helping on the NM. I don't mind this rule that much, however I would have preferred freelot on tier 1 and 2 NM and points for higher up because the lower tier ZNM's can be low manned as opposed to the higher ones which require a large group. I would have been fine with this, but points were deducted before an official post was made about this rule and that just isn't right in my opinion.

Also if people want to fight ZNM outside the LS it should be available for them to do so, however, it was said all ZNM drops that were done and lotted must be reported or you lose points which I don't agree with either. After expressing these opinion on our LS website, I was called greedy and it was assumed that I wanted to only leech gear which is complete bullshit because I have been helping with tons of ZNM lately and only lotted what nobody else wanted. Why is it so bad to freelot that which nobody wants? I have yet to lot something that someone wanted that popped the NM. Oh well, I doubt I will be doing ZNM a lot more often until I get over all of this, I am most upset however with the reactions of some of the comments I got and disrespect towards me when it was not even needed. Moving on..

I have been doing a TON of this ZNM due to people wanting Beast Slayer and because he is tier 1 which opens to tier 2. This is a really easy ZNM when he wants to be compliant and die otherwise sometimes his bombs and random melee outbursts can get dangerous. The NM is fought in one room which is pictured above, its the room that you appear in when you go want to go back to Aht Urghan from the outside areas. One person pops the NM and kites him to this room and the adds will depop by the time you reach this room, after the puller reacher the room you have all your team all out attack which is usually done with BLM's. After he takes the damage from the BLM's he will run off and place bombs behind him which explode for usually 400~500 dmg w/o barfira and like 200 with it on. It's best NOT to follow him after he runs because this will trigger the explosion from the bombs, sometimes he even comes back if you land a nuke or stun after he starts running.

The best damage I find for this fight is Black Mages with nukes doing good damage vs. this NM and stun is nice, I also find the best sub for them is NIN and someone with WHM. Some that we did this with think /NIN was not the best sub because you can just kite him around the pillars, this is true but sometimes he can and will get melee hits in and they do decent damage. With Utsusemi up and taking his hits from melee you are free to keep casting while he stands there instead of having blink and stoneskin up (which Stoneskin is hard to keep up after bombs). Summoner's also do a good deal of damage to him, after he runs back to your group you can hear when he is coming with the music and have Garuda ready and just use Predator Claws when he stops to melee whomever had hate last on him. The only problem with SMN in this fight is the avatars and their dumb AI towards this mob. Most times when you summon then and issue a BP: Ward, they will instead run after the NM and the BP won't go off... which is very frustrating ontop of the fact that if they follow the NM they might set off his bombs close to the team. Melee jobs can be useful in this fight, however there won't be a time to TP on him so it's advised to sub /SAM or if your SAM sub /THF and WS when he comes near.

Finally got a Beast Slayer and Armadillo Cuisess for myself after killing this NM so many times with people and dying a bunch of times.

This NM, Iriz Irma, is really easy due to the fact you can kite it easily. Can be gravity and binded but it builds resistance over time, however, it runs really slow so its easy to get away from even without movement speed+ items. Nuking is the way to go for this fight, it also seems he doesn't spawn chigoe when he uses a TP move like normal Marids. It can be brought to the tower in this area and kited around it while people nuke and kite it if they take hate.

This NM can end up being very dangerous due to his AOE move, Wind Shear.  Vulpangue can also go crazy it seems if you cast an element of the corresponding day on him, like Dia or Holy (which was casted here) and he starts spamming his AOE move. A couple of Summoner's could probably handle this fight no problem with Garuda and Predator Claws. The purpose of fighting this was for me to get that AWESOME head piece that it drops, the Karura Hachigane. This piece is a great arsenal for a Summoner to have because the most used avatar is Garuda with Predator Claws. The attack bonus is noticeable and the -2 perpetuation cost makes Garuda a perfect candidate for soloing now with lower perp costs.

Next ZNM up on the list... Anantaboga the red ugly dragon.

This fight is also pretty simple but he can be dangerous. This NM is a bard, and that means he has access to maidens virelai... which is charm! What we did for the fight was have a bunch of BLM and have them at the zone line, then have the person who pop's NM run to the zone line and we had a tank hold the NM in place while the BLM's nuked it and zoned out. This way the NM just keeps his attention on the tank and he can't harm the BLM since they lose hate while zoning. I was there as RDM for cures and DOT's basically making sure the PLD didn't die. At times in the fight Anataboga will use Maidens Virelai and charm the tank, if that happens make sure DOT's are on and zone out. The NM's curse ability is very strong so it is highly advised to have at least one person sub WHM for cursna. After a barrage of nukes and zoning and some time later, the NM dies! The drop's weren't all that great but it was another ZNM killed along the way to have a pop item for tier 4.

ZNM is fun at times but lately it's just worn me out a little due to the arguement's over gear and how that all works. I will most likely get back into it, I like fighting the NM's and the gear is certainly a good bonus.

Right now my major focus is set on a bunch of things like getting Askar from Nyzul, getting more gil to buy certain gear I would like, killing Wolfknight for MPKing me in Copycat KSNM, andddd this masterpiece that was announced to be added to the game....

Blue Mage AF2... yes BLU AF2! I can't wait to see what kind of stats are on these, it's said they basically mimic RDM AF completely so hopefully the hat will have refresh and BLU skill +15 which is MAJOR for this job. There is going to be a lot of competition for this AF in dynamis, but atleast with the increased drop rates it hopefully won't be as bad. More things to keep me tied to this game, maybe next they will announce Scholar merits for September update!

Jul. 25th, 2008

I have been spending most of this week leveling my thief and doing random LS events but leveling THF takes a ton of patience it seems... Looking for group for hours and hours is NOT something I enjoy especially when most of the job's I leveled have had a decent speed with invites except BLU I guess. I think the record so far was 4 or 5 hours.. of course not spending it sitting at the computer, I have gone into my pool and came back like a hour and a half later with no tells heh. Campaign and Besiged seem to be the only things that make me progress to my level aside from the random pt's I can manage to snag or build if the right jobs are seeking (which is extremely rare). Certain people just really like to stop me from making parties it seems too... like this charming JP person I managed to ask.

How lovely right? Slowly but surely I am getting to 75... hopefully sometime this year! 8 more levels to go.

Bunch of different events won some and lost some.

Some out of control Hundred Fists carnage going on here by our friend Seiryu! I forgot drops but it was not anything spectacular. After leveling a few new jobs like my SAM, I need some more things from sky like shura gear. I also need a Genbu shield but I have been after that for a little bit but mostly focusing on gearing up my SAM with shura pants and head peice and someday B haidate.

Now for the lose some...

We wiped at 1%... could have had it maybe if I did bio2 when I reraised instead of helix which did 0 damage due to double weakness. We started out really good and I think the problem was when people kept damaging it after Star said to stop damage at a certain percent I believe around 20%, then from there it went downhill. 1% HP left is like a slap in the face though we should have had that! Oh well, there will always be a next time and we will come back even stronger.

Anticipation

It's been almost a week since I ordered my games and they still haven't arrived yet. Once I get them I don't know if I will be on FFXI a lot hehe. I got a good bit of cash from a court settlement about 4 years ago and now im just starting to put some away here and there and I decided to treat myself to a couple of fun things, like new games! I got a whole bunch of things online, 12 things I think it and the stores are taking forever to deliver them. I ordered from Toys r' us which takes forever to update the tracking and I think they messed up the price of the shipping... 24 dollars for shipping of one game sounds wrong, but it says the bundle for Wii which comes with Super smash bro. was 24 dollars shipping as well so I am guessing they go those mixed up somehow. The other stores were amazon and gamestop which look like they shipped it fast when I ordered.

The Nintendo Wii. It's got so many games I like for it  so I decided to get it over the other big two, Xbox and PS.  Super Smash Bro. is one of the ones I ordered that i'm REALLY looking forward to, I have heard a lot of good things about it and it sounds like a ton of fun.  I have the one for gamecube and  it was a lot of fun but I usually only played with the same people like my family so it got boring beating them up, now it has online capabilites I believe so that should be fun. Chocobo's Dungeon and RE are also ones I am looking forward to, I love the RE series and the storyline for it, most of the ones that come out now don't follow the story for it.... like RE4, but this one will its like a summary of them and fills in the missing information I guess. Chocobo's Dungeon was a awesome game, the one for PS1, and I saw some youtube video's of this one and it looked awesome. Zelda is obviously an old time favorite of a lot of people as it is mine. I really enjoyed playing the Ocarina of Time for N64 and the graphics on this Zelda look amazing.

These are the other games I ordered that arent for Wii. The one im looking forward to the most out of these is Disgaea 2 due to the fact that the first game was AWESOME and its even better when you have it for PSP! The Wild Arms game looks fun, I played the original and completed it and was satisfied with the story and gameplay considering how old it is but its a great game and hopefully the remake is good too. I only saw videos on youtube for Brave Story and Jeanne, but they look like interesting games. Brave Story is a turn based RPG with weird cell shaded kind of graphics and "Kerplash" old comic sounds when you hit an enemy. Jeanne seems to be just like Final Fantasy Tactics which is one my favorite games so I am sure I will enjoy it. Just checked the mail and here are FF4 and Chocobo's Dungeon (No Wii to play it on though)!

Hello and welcome!

Well after looking around at a bunch of FFXI based Livejournals I have finally decided to make one of my very own. I really do enjoy posting screenshots and looking at various things from this game so this should be a fun experience, also to keep track of my memories in Vana'diel so can remember all the good times. I guess I will start a first entry out by talking a little about myself and my character. My character's name is Draylo on the Leviathan server and currently the jobs at 75 are BLU BLM RDM WHM SMN SCH SAM and BRD. A bunch of 75's because I really enjoy seeing myself progress through levels for some reason, but I really consider Black Mage and Blue Mage my main jobs at this point. Heres a little pic of my character which I heavily .dat mod hehe.

I started this game back a month or two after the original NA release where I started out as an Elvaan. I really hated being one so I eventually quit that character after reaching 69 BLM to start a new one... a Hume. From then on I progressed through the game as my Hume Draylo to where I am now. MMORPG's are really a lot of fun to me, I have sampled a lot over the last 5 years and FFXI stuck to me the most out of all of them. FFXI just has something that is hard to explain, at times I do sometimes wanna shut it off and never log back in but there is something that keeps me attached to it. I have met a lot of cool people through it and I enjoy meeting new people everyday through the game.  Hopefully the summary was not too boring but I plan to achieve many new goals in the game and log my progress here as a virtual reminder of all the times I had in this game!
